If you're going to prank your friends using a ghost gag, or really any paranormal-themed gag, you should probably think twice about how you pull off the whole thing. This advice holds especially true if you live in a country like Indonesia, where many have strong beliefs about ghosts.
Case in point: this recent news story of an apartment building security guard in the Indonesian city of Bandung, who has been charged with assault. Apparently the security guard thought he was doing everyone riding in an elevator with him a favor when he kicked a "ghost" in the face. That's right, the elevator doors opened to a ghost sitting on the floor in front of the elevator. Did the security guard whip out his proton pack and ghost trap? No, he went for just brute force against the ghost.
Last time I checked, ghosts are supposed to be intangible. I'm probably missing something here, but I thought I would bring that up (after all I write about the paranormal on a regular basis).
The bad news for the security guard is that the "ghost" was the friend of a girl riding in the elevator. It turns out the whole thing was a joke, until the security guard kicked the girl's teeth in. Making things even worse, the girl's father is an influential businessman in Bandung. Now the security guard is facing criminal charges.
So what is the point of all of this? Well, I have never heard of such a situation, but I guess it is possible you could be shot by someone if you are trying to prank your friends by dressing up and acting like a brain-eating zombie. You could get staked through the heart if you put glitter on your skin and slicked your hair back, and then started stalking high school girls.
I guess you should think before you prank. After all, there are people who will secretly harbor some Buffy the Vampire Slayer tendencies, and are just itching to kick the crap out of some paranormal creature who just happens to be you.
And no, I was not talking about the cheesy Sarah Michelle Gellar television show that paled in comparison to the original movie, thank you.
So remember: prank responsibly.

There used to be a stupid reality show where they scared people. If they'd done any of those pranks on a redneck, they would've been shot for sure.
I think I saw that show once, but I don't remember the name. Rednecks are not the only ones who are armed and trigger-happy, sadly...
