Picture an extraterrestrial in your mind.
You likely are visualizing what is called a "grey" or a grey alien. They are humanoid beings with dark grey skin, large eyes, large heads, an undeveloped muscular structure and have a curious absence of ears, nose and sex organs. Greys also don't have body hair and their legs are quite a bit shorter than ours, making them look a little awkward or... alien.
Some UFO experts claim that about half of the reported alien encounters in the United States describe aliens that are greys. Why are these grey-skinned aliens so often seen by people? Does it have to do with social conditioning since the image of greys are used in movies, books, magazines and pretty much everywhere to represent extraterrestrials? Are greys real extraterrestrials that visit Earth more often than other alien beings?
Quite a few people who claim to have been abducted by greys claim that the aliens never talk with their mouth, preferring instead to communicate telepathically. Greys also are characterized as being fascinated with the function of the human body, performing many experiments on human subjects.
Skeptics claim that greys appear too human to be plausible extraterrestrials, even though nobody really knows what a plausible extraterrestrial being looks like. In contrast there is another alien race many have claimed to see, which look like giant reptiles. Many other types of extraterrestrials supposedly exist, but greys remain the most popular.
What do you think of grays? Are they representative of extraterrestrial beings or are they an archetype generated by the human psyche?
